Meet the Choirs
The Lawrence North High School Choral Department consists of four curricular choirs and one extracurricular ensemble, offering a wide variety of choral experiences. Students in our program have the opportunity to participate in concert choir, show choir, gospel choir, and even a Pentatonix-style acapella group. Get more information about each choir below.
The Lawrence North High School Chamber Singers were founded in 1998 and have been making great strides in the performance of concert literature ever since. Under the direction of Jennifer Gafron and accompanied by Nathan Perry, their repertoire includes classical music from various time periods as well as vocal jazz and some popular music. The Chamber Singers have traveled throughout the United States and have received numerous awards including top honors at the Gateway Music Festival in New York City, and the Smoky Mountain Music Festival in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
Treble Singers is a beginning women’s choir made up of 9th-12th graders that performs music in various styles, including classical, pop, rock, musical theater, hip-hop, gospel and more throughout the year. Members of Treble Singers continue to develop their skills in vocal technique, sight reading, music theory, and dance.
New Dimension is celebrating its 14th season of performing various styles of popular and classical choral literature. This select group of singers, dancers, instrumentalists, and technicians has been named Grand Champion and received numerous honors at various show choir competitions including the Shelbyville Invitational, Spotlighters Invitational, Pike MusicFest, M.I.C. North Central Invitational, Central Sound Classic, Showstoppers, and Fame. New Dimension has performed throughout the country as ambassadors for the Indianapolis community in Chicago, New York, and Branson, and more. New Dimension is under the direction of Jennifer Gafron, choreographed by Ashley Chandler, and accompanied by Nathan Perry.
Sounds of Praise
In its fifth season, Sounds of Praise features music generally from the Gospel, Jazz, and Spiritual idioms. It allows students to study and perform music of religious settings derived from the African American religious experience. Students meet regularly to enhance the skills that are specifically germane to vocal gospel music production. Under the direction of Cliff Latham, they will perform throughout the year at various venues.
Celebrating their fourth season as part of the Lawrence North High School Choral Department, The Voices is an entertainment ensemble that focuses on building high-energy, engaging performances that emulate the performance style of the popular a capella group, Pentatonix. Each student sings with his or her own microphone while performing many different popular styles of music.
